Walk in the Light

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7).

      Have you ever cleaned your furniture; and felt good about how shiny it was, only hours (or sometimes, only minutes) later see dust on the furniture again? Where does it come from?  These dust particles cause allergies and sickness if left uncleaned.  

      Have you also noticed if the sun shines brightly through the window, you can see all these dust particles floating around in the air? They eventually end up on the furniture.  You hadn't noticed all the dust in the air until the light shines on it.


      So it is with our spiritual walk with the Lord. As we walk through this life, there are things in our lives that cause problems for us. Often, we don't even realize those things are even there. They are constantly around us, but we aren't aware of their presence many times. Only when the light shines on them, do we know they are even there.


"But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." (Ephesians 5:13). 


     These can be attitudes, thoughts, habits, motives, intentions, temptations, or anything the enemy can use to cause us to become unclean. We must daily keep our hearts, minds and lives clean. It takes a daily cleansing with the Word of God, prayer and repentance.  

       We must daily walk in the Light (Jesus is the Light). Walking in the light will expose all the hidden things in our lives that will cause us to be unclean.  Only the light will expose these things that need to be removed from our lives. It isn't enough for these things to be exposed or revealed to us. They must be removed and repented of.


 "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46).


"or ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:" (Ephesians 5:8).


        So, we, as Children of the light, should not walk in darkness. We should not want to live in sin. We should stay in an attitude of repentance and surrender to the Lord. Sin causes us to stay in darkness in an attempt to hide our sins. Christ has called us to live in the light, to come out of the darkness.


"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."  (John 3:19).


But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:  (1 Peter 2:9).


     Walk in the light of the Lord. Come out of the darkness today and surrender all to Jesus. It will be the best decision you will ever make!
