Are You Awake?

"Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
(Ephesians 5:14)

We are all familiar with an alarm clock. It beeps, buzzes or plays music to let us know it is time to wake up. When we hear this warning sound, we usually groan, moan and complain. Why? Because we do not want to wake up, get ready and go to work. We would rather sleep. So often, we reach out and press the snooze button on the clock for just a few more minutes of sleep. This accomplishes nothing. We still have to get up, get ready and go to work. If we continue pushing the snooze button for more sleep, we will be late for work and possibly lose our job.

God says it is time to wake up, get up and go to work. We are not to push the snooze button by saying things like "I'll do it later", or "I don't feel like it today", or "I don't want to", or any other excuse we might offer. There is work to be done for the Lord. We must wake up and do it while we still have time.

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."
(Romans 13:11).

Are you  a spiritual sleepwalker? A spiritual sleepwalker talks a good talk, looks awake, and appears to  be awake, but is not awake. They fool many people into believing they are awake, but in reality, they are not.   In 2 Timothy 3:5 we see what we could refer to as spiritual sleepwalkers.  look at this verse:

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

Satan wants to keep us asleep so we do not get the work done. There are people who need to hear about Jesus and how He died for their sins because of His great love. There are people who need to be reached for the Lord, but if we are asleep, or sleep walking, the work will go undone and they will be lost forever.  Determine in your heart today to wake up, get up and get to work for the Lord.

The alarm is sounding...what will you do? Push the snooze button, or get up and follow the Lord?
