Walk in the Light

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7).

"But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him." (John 11:10).

When I was a child, my father asked me to go get something out of his truck for him. It was dark outside, so he gave me his flashlight. I thought this flashlight was fun to play with. I moved it from side to side, in circles, up in the sky, and everywhere.... everywhere except my path to the truck. Dad called to me from the door and said,"Keep the light on your path, and walk in that light, and you won't trip and fall over anything."  When I became a parent, I told my children the same thing concerning the use of a flashlight.

As we walk through this road of life, sometimes, darkness comes. Sometimes it's difficult to find our way. We have access to the Light, (Jesus).

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12).

If we walk in our own path, we walk in darkness. In this darkness, there will be obstacles, hurdles, pitfalls, obstructions and things in our way that will cause us to stumble and fall. God has called us out of the darkness into the light. This world is full of darkness. People's hearts are dark and cold toward one another and toward God. They are missing the light. They need Jesus. It is up to us to share the light with them. We are to shine forth the light of Jesus so they can find their way.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  (Matthew 5:16).

"that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;" (1 Peter 2:9).

If we stay in the light, we will not lose our way. We will see all the things the enemy puts in front of us that are meant to hurt or destroy us. We can walk around them and walk victorious to the other side.

We are to walk with the Lord; daily, in prayer, studying the Word and living for Him. We must repent of our sins daily to ensure we walk in the light. We are to stay in the light. Sin brings darkness and separates us from the light.  Each of us have a choice. What's your choice? Darkness or light?
